About Vicky Huang & Salt District Mayor

Vicki Huang (黃美琦) is a Taiwanese-American musician, DJ, and vinyl storyteller who focuses on preserving and reimagining Taiwanese folk music through downtempo and electronic sounds. Based in Taipei, she is the resident DJ at 潮電 Bar&RecordStore and the founder of 鹽埕區長 SALT DISTRICT MAYOR—a living archive and label that brings attention to forgotten voices and field recordings from Taiwan’s musical past.

Through vinyl listening sessions and collaborations with global music communities, Vicki blends analog warmth with modern storytelling to explore memory, healing, and cultural connection. SALT DISTRICT MAYOR serves as a platform to revive Taiwanese folk and pop music from the 1950s to today, turning rare records into moments of ritual, remembrance, and shared experience.
